ROCHESTER - The woman suspected of stealing alcohol from Signal Street Variety and whose picture was widely circulated on the Rochester Police Facebook page turned herself in at the department's downtown headquarters earlier this week.

Ann Britton, 42, of 31 Ninth St., Apt 2, was charged with a single count of willful concealment, a Class B misdemeanor, in connection with the incident.

Rochester Police posted a surveillance photo of Britton describing the alleged crime and noting her distinctive tattoos on July 27. Less than an hour later they had been apprised of her identity, attesting to the page's robust readership.

Police, however, as of late last week, had still not filed an arrest warrant.

Rochester Police Capt. Paul Toussaint said Britton walked in and surrendered on Monday without incident.

She was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail with an arraignment next month in Rochester District Court.
