ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman has been arrested for leaving dogs in a hot car this week during the current heat wave.
Katie Grullon, 26, of 10 Moores Court, was arrested on Friday in connection with a Wednesday incident, which occurred at the Rochester Market Place on Milton Road.
Police said when officers arrived they found two dogs inside the vehicle in distress. Grullon is alledged to have knowingly confined the two dogs in a hot car, in which the temperature was so high as to potentially cause serious harm to the animals.
The crime of Animals in Motor Vehicles is a Class B Misdemeanor.
Grullon was bailed on $500 PR and is scheduled to appear for arraignment next month at the 7th Circuit – Rochester District Court.
The Rochester Police field numerous calls of animals left in cars during the summer and encourage pet owners to leave animals at home on hot days.
