ROCHESTER - William P. Brennan, a dedicated educator and public servant, died on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at the age of 92, at the Rochester Manor. Born on July, 5, 1931, in Rochester, William was the son of Francis and Margaret (Cassidy) Brennan.

William's life journey took him from his hometown of Rochester to Attleboro, Mass., where he embarked on a fulfilling teaching career at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Mass. For a time, he split his residence between Rochester and Attleboro, highlighting his deep connection to both places.

A graduate of Spaulding High School, William was part of a remarkable class that produced numerous municipal, county, and state officials. He also earned a bachelor of arts degree from St. Anselm's College in Manchester and later pursued further education at Northeastern University, where he earned a master's degree in educational administration.

During the Korean conflict, William served his country with dedication as a member of the Marines, with deployments in the European Area, the Caribbean, and a year spent in Korea during the Korean War.

William lived by the belief that "public service is its own reward." He wholeheartedly embraced this ethos by serving on the Attleboro City Council, planning board, and school committee. Returning to his roots in Rochester in 1993, he continued his commitment to public service by becoming a member of the Rochester School Board, the city council, and the NH state legislature.

Beyond his public service, William was an active member of various organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign War, Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association, American Legion, Strafford County Retired Teachers Association, First Marine Division Association, and the Rochester Public Library. He also contributed as a corporator on the Board of Trustees for Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

William's memory is cherished by his family, including his two sons, Shawn Brennan and Denis Brennan, as well as five grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
