ROCHESTER - Wayne S. Merritt, 52, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH after a period of failing health.
Wayne was born in Portland, Maine on July 4, 1962, the son of Harold Merritt and Mary L. Alley and lived for many years in Rochester moving here from Lebanon, Maine.
He was a former owner of his own painting company. He was a former volunteer firefighter in Lebanon, ME and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his biological father, Harold Merritt and mother, Mary L. Grady who died in May of 2014.
Surviving member of the family include: his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Alley, his dad, James J. Grady Jr. of Lebanon, ME, three children, Amanda Peavey and her husband Allen who loved him dearly, Mitchell J. Merritt of Rochester, NH, and Kenneth McStay of Sarasota, FL, one brother, Kevin R. Merritt and his wife Melina of Addison, ME, one sister, Karen M. Brunelas and her husband John of Rochester, NH, three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
