Waldoboro man dies in Maine Turnpike crash in Wells

WELLS, Maine - A 48-year-old Waldoboro man was killed today when troopers say his pickup truck slammed into the rear of a turnpike plow truck.

Troopers say Michael Sands died instantly in the crash, which occurred at mile 16 in the northbound lane, where only one lane remained open through much of the morning. The highway was expected to be opened up again today before noon.
