ALFRED, Maine - A West Lebanon man struck a plea deal in a local burglary charge Wednesday at York County Superior Court.
Thaddeus W. Barbour, 37, formerly of 284 Prospect Hill Road, pleaded guilty to a single count of burglary for his part in the March 19 burglary of a Prospect Hill Road residence.
After his arrest a few days later he spent four months in York County Jail until his bail was reduced in mid-July.
A second charge, theft by unauthorized taking, was dismissed for time served.
Maine State Trooper James Macdonald said in April that an investigation revealed Barbour may have broken into the residence after he was denied money by the homeowner, adding that Barbour was suspected of having solicited money from several area residents.
As part of the plea deal the burglary count will get a deferred disposition and be dismissed if Barbour stays clean for a year.
As part of the plea agreement he must obtain a substance abuse evaluation within 60 days and follow all recommendations.
