ROCHESTER - Rochester Police are on the hunt for a man who tried to pass counterfeit money at a Rochester business earlier this month.
The person in question tried to pass a $20 at Signal Street Variety Store on the morning of July 8, said Rochester Police Sgt. Mike Brinkman today.
Another counterfeiter tried to pass a bogus bill at McDonald’s within the past two weeks, Brinkman said, adding that the fast food restaurant identified the cash as counterfeit due to its feel. He wasn’t sure if the Signal Street incident was foiled due to the feel of the bills or a pen scan, which is often used to validate currency.
The two incidents have not been determined to be related, Brinkman said.
