CENTER LEBANON - A state Fire Marshal's Office investigator, Lebanon firefighters and State Police were at the scene today of a Jim Grant Road fire that broke out a little after midnight.
Lebanon firefighters got the call around 12:15 a.m. for a fire at 3 Jim Grant Road and arrived to find a large two and a half story home with attached barn with smoke showing.
After flames were located in the kitchen area of the house firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to knock it down, according to a press release from Lebanon Fire and EMS.
They were soon joined by a Rochester crew who assisted with fully extinguishing the fire.
Also assisting at the scene were Central Maine Power, Milton Fire and Rescue, Berwick Fire, North Berwick Fire, South Berwick Fire, Somersworth Fire and Frisbie EMS.
There were two occupants in the house at the time of the fire, but they were woken by smoke detectors and able to get out safely through a second story window. One of the occupants, a male, was injured while getting out of the window, said Lebanon Assistant Fire and EMS Chief Dan Mathews. The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A dog also escaped unharmed.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Lebanon Fire and EMS Department as well as the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office. Mathews said an official cause has not been issued, but it appears the fire broke out in or nearby a woodstove in the kitchen.
The house is uninhabitable, Mathews said.
