Two Somersworth man arrested in separate accidental shootings

SOMERSWORTH - Two Somersworth men were arrested in separate firearms incident on Monday.

Raymond W. Picard, 47, of 14A First Street and Joshua F. Conley, 27, of Kings Lane, were both charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and released on PR bail pending their arraignments at Strafford County Superior Court.

The incident with Conley unfolded as Police responded to Kings Lane for a report of an unintentional discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival, Police determined that Conley had been manipulating his 9mm when a round was discharged. It traveled through the wall into an adjacent apartment..

While there were people in the other room, no one was struck.

Police were called to the other incident to investigate the shooting of a person in the chest.

Upon arrival officers located a 53-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper chest. The victim was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.

Officers then learned that an acquaintance of the victim was unloading a .22 caliber pistol in the vicinity of the victim when it discharged.

Police concluded that the victim was not shot intentionally.

Police today said the victim remains in stable condition.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
