ERROL - Two truck drivers were in a North Country head-on crash involving a moose.

The collision occurred around 6:35 a.m. on Friday on Route 16 in Errol about a mile north of Androscoggin Wayside Park

The initial on-scene investigation determined one of dump trucks being driven by Justin Hallee, 38, of Milan, was traveling north when it struck a moose that had entered the road, according to a Dept. of Safety press release. After the impact, Hallee lost control and collided head-on with another dump truck approaching from the southbound lane.

Hallee was transported by ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the second dump truck, identified as Jacob Gleason, 22, of Colebrook, was medically cleared on scene.

This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Brandon Girardi at Brandon.M.Girardi@DOS.NH.GOV.
