DOVER - Travis Phillip Toomire, 37, of Dover, died on July 15, 2024, after a lifelong battle with severe complex congenital heart disease, at his home, with family by his side.

Travis was born in Portsmouth to Michael and Thomas Toomire. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended Hesser College to achieve his goal of working with children as a paraprofessional. Travis would tell you, though, his fondest employment memories were working at GHOP in Greenland and Cinemagic in Portsmouth, where he built lifelong friendships and loved working with the public.

As many recall, Travis' quick wit and sense of humor always kept you laughing and was a reminder that no matter how tough life gets, you can always find some humor to carry you through rough patches. Travis was enamored with his time spent with friends and family over the years, whether it be sitting by a fire pit or spending quality bonding time in his pool in younger years, enjoying frequent lunch dates for sushi or pizza, viewing the latest movies released, fishing at his camp at Mousam Lake, or indulging in family dinners where the food was amazing and the conversation never dull. Travis was also adept at reciting details about nearly every movie and TV show ever produced, enjoyed being a history buff, and kept a watchful eye on current events in the world and all things politics.

Travis is survived by two siblings, older brother Justin Toomire of Annapolis, Md., whom he looked up to as his own personal war veteran and law enforcement officer, and his little sister Kimberly Toomire of Portland, Maine, who became a physician and his person to share his innermost thoughts and questions with. He is also survived by his mother, Michael Toomire of Dover, who was his rock through thick and thin as he navigated life with a chronic illness. Travis was predeceased by his father, Thomas Toomire of Hampton, and his favorite cat, Clifford, the big white cat.
