DOVER - A Somersworth transient accused of brandishing a knife while stealing an Xbox from the local Target allegedly put several Somersworth police officers at risk when he attempted to eat fentanyl/heroin while in a police cruiser en route to the police station following his arrest.
Robert Bragg, 42, no fixed address, is facing five Class B felonies: three for reckless conduct for putting the officers in harm's way while trying to eat the drugs, one for falsifying physical evidence and one for robbery, for "brandishing a knife that had previously been holstered at his hip in the course of exiting Target," according to court documents.
The three officers were put at risk when Bragg "ate heroin/fentanyl in the rear of a police cruiser, creating airborne particles and exposing (the officers) to its effects." the indictment states.
Bragg's consumption of the illegal drug also resulted in a falsifying physical evidence charge.
Each of the five charges is punishable by a three and a half to seven year sentence in a New Hampshire state prison.
Somersworth Police said on Monday they could not comment on the case.
The April Strafford County indictments were handed down earlier this month and released to the public on Friday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather that enough evidence has been presented to warrant moving forward to trial.
Bragg is currently being held at the Strafford County Jail, jail personnel said today.
