CONCORD - Gov. Chris Sununu today hailed news that the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils has selected New Hampshire for this year's Don't Quit! Campaign, which will allow three three elementary or middle schools in the Granite State to receive a $100,000 Don't Quit! fitness center.
"A healthier state starts with healthier kids," said Gov. Sununu. "I am excited to work with Jake Steinfeld (Body by Jake) and the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils on this great opportunity for our elementary and middle schools across the state. These state-of-the-art facilities will provide a valuable tool for students as schools return to regular operations."
Fitness icon Jake (Body by Jake) Steinfeld, chairman of the NFGFC, made the selection.
"Childhood obesity is a serious problem that can follow a child into adulthood. I've declared war on this preventable disease and it's inspiring to see elected leaders like Governor Chris Sununu immediately jump on board to join the battle and welcome us into the great state of New Hampshire," Seinfeld said. "So far we've delivered DON'T QUIT! Fitness Centers to 36 states and Washington, DC and this year we are adding four more states to our family including New Hampshire, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Maine."
School nominations will be accepted starting today through March 19. To nominate a school, individuals can visit https://natgovfit.org/nominate-your-school/, then click the New Hampshire or Maine state seal to download the short application.
