Thomasine Lenfest ... former City of Rochester employee

ROCHESTER - Thomasine "Tommi" Lenfest of Rochester, died peacefully at home on Sunday June 7, 2020, after a long and heroic battle with cancer.

Thomasine "Tommi" Levesque was born on May 17, 1940, in Nashua. She attended Nashua High School and enjoyed being involved in many activities with her class. She studied teaching at Plymouth State College for several years. On December 2, 1961 she married recent UNH graduate and 2^nd Lieutenant in the Army, William F. "Bill" Lenfest. She followed him to Germany where they had two children, returning to the States in 1965. Except for the 2 years that Bill was away serving in Vietnam and Thailand, Tommi and Bill spent the rest of Bill's military career raising their children together on military bases around the country. Tommi enjoyed it greatly.

The couple moved to Rochester in 1980. A hard worker and true people person, Tommi worked for the City of Rochester in the Tax Collector's office for many years. She then he worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Employment Security for over 13 years before retiring.

Tommi touched many lives with her generous spirit, kind nature and sense of humor. She especially loved spending time with her very very dear group of friends who had enormous amounts of fun together and who supported each other through thick and thin. Tommi would often remark that she was so lucky to have such great friends who helped make her life so rich.

Tommi loved so many things: family, friends, animals, gardening, reading, cooking, and being by the water. But the most special treasures of her life were her grandchildren Owen, Ellis and Wylder Tonkin. She was active in their lives and showered them with heartfelt love and joy that will stay with them forever.

Tommi is predeceased by her beloved mother, Agnes Levesque and her father, Romeo Levesque. She is survived by her husband, William F. Lenfest, her son William S. Lenfest and his wife, Lynn Kasch, her daughter Kristine Tonkin, her husband Kevin and their sons, Owen, Ellis and Wylder, her brother Richard Levesque, his wife Lynda and their daughter Sarah Garner and her family, her sister Cynthia Beaulieu, her son Mark and his family, her brother-in-law Richard Lenfest, his wife Carole, and their children Richard and his family, Kristen Scheffler and her family and Michael and his family. You all held a very special place in Tommi's heart.
