ROCHESTER - Teen and Children's Summer Reading Programs will be ending this week. Be sure to get your final counts in your Beanstack accounts! The Adult SRP will run until August 20th! And, if you need any tech help, don't forget we have an on staff Emerging Technologies Specialist that can help you!

Tech Help

Our Emerging Technologies Specialist, Jessica, is here for you if you need any help figuring out your new phone, tablet or laptop or if you have any questions about our Library downloadable resources such as hoopla, Libby or Overdrive. To make an appointment contact the library at: 603-332-1428 or rplreference@rochesternh.net.

Book Recommendation

Speaking of our Emerging Technologies Specialist, Jessica, she has just read a book she wanted to share: "The Switch by Beth O'Leary It is an inter-generational story about a 20-something and her grandmother who switch homes to take on each other's daily lives." This one was also recommended by Main Desk Librarian, Katherine.

RPL Recommends Animated Videos

Main Desk Librarian (and syndicated cartoonist), Stephanie, and Main Desk Librarians, Karyl and Nick, have created a series of animated videos recommending books, DVDs and other items. See them on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Check out our summer themed videos throughout the summer with great title recommendations in each one.

Kait Recommends

Assistant Librarian, Kait, is well known on social media for her book recommendations. This week, she says: "If you're as excited about Free Comic Book Day (August 14 this year!) as I am, I have some suggestions for books you might enjoy! All these books take place at fan conventions (or cons, as they're more commonly known) and star characters who are really excited about being there!

Once Upon a Con by Ashley Poston (series)

Girls Save The World In This One by Ash Parsons

Zoe Rosenthal is Not Lawful Good by Nancy Werlin

Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde

Ship It! by Britta Lundin

Con Quest! by Sam Maggs

For more book lists like these and other bookish fun, follow Kait Plus Books at kaitplusbooks.com or @kaitplusbooks on social media!

(Most of Kait's list recommendations can be found in the library. Some are available on the Libby app.)

Adult Summer Reading

There's still time to join our Adult Summer Reading Program! Track your reading using the Beanstack app. All you have to do is keep track of how many minutes you've read (or paper logs are available in the Library and on our website). The Beanstack app has a built-in stopwatch, but you can also use any form of timekeeping and then enter that number of minutes into your Beanstack account. In the app you will win badges, prizes, and raffle tickets as you go. For more information and to register, head on over to the Library's website: rpl.lib.nh.us

Teen Summer Reading Program

The Teen SRP will be ending on August 6th so there is still time to get in your reading logs and trivia answers and get prizes! Reading logs are entered into a raffle at the end of the program.

Children's Room

Summer Reading: Tails & Tales Summer Reading will be wrapping up this week. Don't forget to use Beanstack for logging your completed books online. Count your minutes spent reading, not the books.counting minutes, this year, instead of books. The program will end on Friday, August 6th.

Children can drop by for crafts. Older children may attend independently, but younger children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

Drop-in Story Times: We will offer drop-in story times geared for children age 2 through 6, but all families are welcome! Bring a blanket and meet on the lawn.

Story Time To GO! Story Time-To-Go will continue for those who prefer using our curbside service. Reserve a pre-packed bag with library books, a simple craft idea with directions, and a set of activities based on a certain theme by calling the Children's Room at 335-7549. These kits are geared for kids age 2 through 6, but the whole family can participate! Please let us know which theme(s) you would like, and for what age range.
