ROCHESTER - The Granite State Choral Society recently announced its 50th anniversary concert series, titled "Winter's Embrace: Celebrating 50 Years of Peace and Joy."

The milestone event promises an enchanting evening filled with harmonious melodies, emotional depth, and the festive spirit of the holiday season. As a cornerstone of the Seacoast's cultural fabric since 1974, GSCS has brought together voices from across the community to create beautiful music and unforgettable performances.

The 50th anniversary celebration will be held on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Church Congregational, located at 63 South Main St., Rochester. A second performance will take place on Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 34 South Main Street, Rochester.

Audiences can anticipate a diverse program featuring a full orchestra, showcasing a blend of classical choral masterpieces and contemporary works. Highlights of the concert include "The Last Words of David" arranged by Randall Thompson, "The Ground" arranged by Ola Gjeilo, "The Road Not Taken" arranged by Randall Thompson, and "Praise His Holy Name" by Keith Hampton. Each piece has been meticulously selected to reflect the choir's journey and the themes of peace, joy, and celebration.
