A 19-year-old Rochester woman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting her year-old child.
Haylee Bernier was charged with first degree assault after a month and half long investigation into reported injuries to the infant.
The investigation began on Feb. 2 when police were notified by the Division of Children, Youth and Family Services of a year-old baby from Rochester who was at Mass General Hospital in Boston suffering from multiple fractures to both arms that were suspicious. Rochester Detectives responded to Mass General to begin their investigation and later determined the injuries were caused by Bernier.
Bernier was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned on a date to be determined in Strafford County Superior Court. As a result of the incident, Bernier does not have custody of the child at this time.
Due to the age of the child and sensitive nature of the case, no other information is being released at this time.
