WOLFEBORO - A teenager from New York was killed on Sunday when his personal watercraft he was operating on Crescemt Lake collided with another.
Marine Patrol responded to reports of the crash around 11:00 a.m., and found two personal watercrafts at the ramp, one with significant damage.
The PWCs were being operated in the northern end of the lake near the channel to Lake Wentworth, when it is suspected that the lead vessel slowed down and the second PWC collided with it from behind, according to a Dept. of Safety press release.
Immediately after the crash, good Samaritans took the injured PWC operator aboard their boat, began CPR and transported the teen to the boat ramp where they were met by emergency responders. Once at shore, Wolfeboro Police and Fire Departments continued CPR efforts until the teen was transported to Huggins Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The second operator was not injured. Both teenage operators are from New York state.
The investigation is ongoing; however, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional details is asked to contact New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol Sergeant Seth Alie at (603) 227-2117 or Seth.P.Alie@dos.nh.gov.
