MILTON - A beer tasting at McKenzie's Farm planned months ago pivoted on Saturday to a much-needed benefit for the Corso family of Milton who lost their home in a fire on Wednesday.
McKenzie's Farm owner Brett McKenzie said it was the right thing to do for the family that lives just a few houses down from the farm.
Customers brows some of the fresh vegetables at McKenzie's Farm in Milton on Sunday during a fund-raiser to help the Corsos who lost their home to fire on Wednesday. |
"The biggest thing when you lose a house like this is you've lost all the memories," McKenzie said. "We just hope this helps get them through the tough time."
As part of the fund-raiser McKenzie's Farm donated all the proceeds from the Hobbs Brewery of Ossipee beer tasting as well as half of Saturday sales from their retail stores in Milton and Wakefield.
The fire at 50 Northeast Pond Road, which was called in around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, drew fire crews from surrounding towns and as far away as Ossipee. The house was completely destroyed in the blaze.
Six occupants at the dwelling and their dog all got out safely, but one cat remains missing and is feared dead.
