ROCHESTER - Downtown Rochester newest restaurant is Cinco's Cantina located in the old Rochester Bank and Trust building on South Main Street next to the Chamber of Commerce.
It takes up the whole ground floor with 20-foot ceilings and expansive windows looking out onto the busy downtown street.
But despite the enormity of the space it boasts a cozy feel, especially due to the warm welcome of co-owners Crescencio Tellez and Miguel Alberto Tellez, who emigrated here from Northern Mexico.
We stopped in last Tuesday, when their daily special is three tacos for $7.50.
You can get them soft or crispy, and choose proteins like shrimp, beef, chicken and chorizo.
While waiting for them to come out I munched on delicious homemade nachos and the house salsa, which wasn't totally tame, but not too spicy, either.
The tacos came out with great presentation and were just as delicious. I got the chicken, which was nicely flavored and very tender.
The service was above average and they even fixed me a doggie bag with the one taco I hadn't eaten, the nachos and a little container of salsa.
Cinco's Cantina also has locations in Dover and Epping.
