STRAFFORD - Susan Scott Patteson, 57, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at her home in Strafford surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on Dec. 29, 1967, in Fairfax, Va., Susan was the beloved daughter of Mary (Trent) Scott and Bruce M. Scott.
Susan was incredibly proud of her time serving her country as a CIA Counter-Terrorism Officer for the United States federal government. She was equally proud to be a mom and homeschool her children for over 10 years. Beyond her professional life, she had a deep passion for adventure and the outdoors. Whether horseback riding, skiing, scuba diving, or running, she found joy in movement and exploration including a love of hiking overseas.
Raised in the Episcopal faith, Susan later converted to Catholicism, finding great fulfillment in her faith journey. She cherished Bible study and the sense of community it brought, always valuing time spent with others. She particularly enjoyed her faithful group of Moms in Prayer ladies who joined together weekly to pray for their families so consistently for 20 years.
Susan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Donald Douglas Patteson; her mother Mary (Trent) Scott, her four children, Beau Patteson, and his wife Alina, of Arlington, Va; Callie Patteson, of Washinton, DC; Samuel Patteson, of San Diego, Calif.; MaryKatherine Patteson, of Strafford, her three siblings, Julie Miracle and her husband Keith, of Cypress, Texas; Jeff Scott and his wife LoriJo, of Kitty Hawk, NC; John Scott and his wife Elizabeth of Fairfax, Va; and many nieces and nephews. We are incredibly grateful for Ann Hewitt as well, who helped Doug faithfully cared for Susan over her final two years.
Susan is predeceased by her father, Bruce M Scott.
