With most of the forecast models showing Jose likely to veer northeast into the North Atlantic ON Tuesday, Northern Seacoast residents can expect a little bit of rain and wind, but that's about it.
Winds are expected to be strongest Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with gusts up around 20 mph and about a half an inch of rain over the same timeframe.
Coastal New Hampshire and Maine will see significantly stronger winds and perhaps a surge due to astronomical high tides on Tuesday and Wednesday, but that shouldn't affect us here.
Coastal residents can also expect to see strong surf, which could bring out late-season surfers looking to hang 10, however they should be wary of strong rip currents, officials say.
Despite most forecasters predicting Jose will be a tropical storm and stay hundreds of miles off the coast, meteorologists won't rule out the possibility of a New England landfall.
If that were to occur, the most likely location would be along eastern Long Island or Cape Cod, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.
By then it's doubtful the fickle storm would still maintain its hurricane strength.
