ROCHESTER - Stanley "Ray" Atkinson, 76, died on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at his home following a brief illness.

Born April 9, 1948, in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late Stanley M. and Doris (Lawson) Atkinson.

Ray had worked in quality control at Westinghouse for 43 years. From his teenage years till his last day, he loved restoring and riding vintage Honda motorcycles and working on small engines. He also enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. It gave him great pleasure teaching his child and grandchildren how to ski, waterski, scuba dive, rebuild and ride motorcycles. He loved having coffee and conversations with friends and neighbors and giving treats to all of his 4-legged friends.

Members of his family include his wife of 54 years Eleanor (Kelloway) Atkinson, of Rochester; his children Jennifer Fortin and husband David of Fitchburg, Mass.; and Debra Atkinson of Manchester; two grandchildren Alexander and Mickael, one brother Douglas Atkinson of Lakeland, Fla.; and one sister Nancy Rogers of Greenville; several nieces and nephews.
