Spaulding High seniors who promote culture, heritage now eligible for cash awards

ROCHESTER = The Tefft Foundation recently moved to include Spaulding High School seniors for monetary prizes in a variety of categories.

The foundation recognizes students that act to protect and preserve civil rights, promote and excel in track and field, and act to preserve, share, and promote jazz music.

"Most people aren't aware that some of their own students may be helping establish civil rights, bringing joy to others by sharing their music, or acting to preserve American culture and heritage," said M. Elaine Tefft, member of the Board of Directors. "We acknowledge their efforts by awarding monetary prizes."

The foundation was established in 2005 by M. Elaine Tefft to carry on the work of her and her late husband, Stanton E. Tefft. It became a 501C(3) nonprofit in 2013. Initially, only seniors at Concord High School were eligible. Gradually, all of the accredited high schools in Concord were added as well as Manchester West High, in Manchester and the Academy for Science & Design, in Nashua.

Spaulding High School is now the eighth high school with seniors eligible for Tefft Foundation Prizes. The application forms can be completed online or mailed. The deadline is May 1.
