ROCHESTER - An East Coast snowmobile racing series kicks off Saturday at the Rochester Fairgrounds.
It will be one of the first tests of the Fairgrounds draw since the Rochester Fair reopened its doors in September.
Many see nonfair events such as snowmobile racing as key to the fairground's and the Rochester Fair's solvency moving forward.
The East Coast Snocross (ECS), which will run both Saturday and Sunday, is part of that strategy.
Gates open at 10 a.m. each day, with tickets for adults at $12 per day or $20 for a weekend pass. Children age 7 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the entire weekend are available for an extra $10.
Once again there are plenty of story lines to follow in 2019, led by the strong start Ski-doo has enjoyed in the first two weekends of racing on the ISOC national circuit, the ECS website says.
Snow guns have been in operation much of the week to ensure a good riding surface.
