ROCHESTER - The Rochester Recreation and Arena announced today that Northeast Passage will be hosting New England Sled Hockey League games on Oct Saturday and Sunday at the Rochester Arena.

Sled hockey allows individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in the popular winter sport. Sled hockey is played as a team sport and the concepts and rules are the same as "stand-up" hockey, but instead of standing up to skate, participants sit on an adaptive device known as a sled.

To propel themselves, players use two shortened hockey sticks with a blade on one end and metal picks for propulsion on the other end.

During the two days the NEP Wildcats will play teams from the United States and Canada.

Games will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Visit Rec.RochesterNH.gov for a full schedule.
