MILTON - Shirley A. Clark, 84, of Milton, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with declining health. Born on May 8, 1940, in Waitsfield, Vt., she was the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Harvey) James. Shirley was a dedicated nurse at Linden Lodge in Brattleboro, Vt., where she cared deeply for those around her.

Shirley found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, tending to her flower gardens, camping, and spending time with animals. In her later years, she shared her life with her cherished companion, Ed Howard, who brought her much comfort and joy. She was a devoted mother to her children, David Cole and his wife Natalie of Lakeland, Fla.; Timothy Cole and his wife Cristiane of Winter Garden, Fla.; and Alice "Ally" Cole of Marcola, Oregon. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Levi, Scott, and Jace, as well as her brothers, David and Jerry Green, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Cole; her second husband, Walter Clark; and her son, William Cole.
