SOMERSWORTH - Shaun Richard Shea, 60, of Somersworth, died on August 31, 2024, after a brief, brave battle with cancer.

Shaun was born on Nov. 15, 1963, in Dover. He was the second child and first born son to Richard J. Shea and the late Juliette L. (Bernier) Shea of Epping. His sister, Coleen, was so happy to have a baby brother! She was 9 at the time of his birth.

Shaun was a graduate of Somersworth High School 1982, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended UNH for a year and then enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served for four years. Shaun worked in security for The Navy Yard for a short time then was employed at Pease Air Force Air Guard where he retired after 26 years in the 157th Logistics Squadron. Shaun worked as a substitute teacher in Somersworth schools post retirement and loved working with the kids.

Shaun is survived by his father Richard J. Shea, 93, of Somersworth, his sister Amy(Shea) Giedraitis, his sister Hillary(Shea) Kirby and her husband David Kirby. Shaun leaves behind nephews Doran Rivera, Alden Giedraitis, Ethan Kirby and nieces Sophie Giedraitis and Amelia Kirby.

Shaun is predeceased by his mother Juliette L. (Bernier) Shea and his sister Coleen Shea.

Shaun was a religious man and worshiped at St. Ignatius Parish, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. His faith in God was strong and prayer was an integral part of his daily life. He always wore a cross or religious medal around his neck. He was a devoted son to his father Richard and walked with him every day.

Shaun was a member of the Elks and NRA. He liked hunting and working outside in the yard. He loved golfing with his father and friends and singing karaoke.

Shaun was funny and kind with a gentle nature. He loved to make people smile and laugh. He enjoyed talking to friends and strangers alike.

We love you, Shaun. You will be missed.
