Sanford police probe shooting of three-year-old boy

SANFORD, Maine - Sanford Police are investigating a Tuesday shooting in which a three-year old boy was wounded.

Police responded to 13 Shaw Road around 4:30 p.m. after a caller reported a gunshot at the address.

Sanford Police and EMS arrived and found the boy had a gunshot wound to his left hand. The father was with the child, who was transported to Maine Medical Center where he is being treated for his injury.

The pistol was recovered inside the residence.

The Sanford Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
