SANFORD - A Sanford bicyclist sustained serious injuries when they were struck by a vehicle on Main Street on Wednesday.
The accident occurred a little before 6 p.m. in the area of 863 Main Street. Police believe the bicycle and the vehicle were both traveling north on Main Street at the time of the incident.
The bicyclist was transported first to Southern Maine Medical Center at Goodall by Sanford Fire Department EMS and later airlifted by LifeFlight of Maine to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The operator of the motor vehicle was uninjured.
An investigation into the accident continues.
