ROCHESTER - Rochester Police said on Thursday they will have a full complement of officers on duty for the extended Fourth of July holiday, which could see some revelers taking advantage of what for many may be a 10-day celebration.
With Independence Day coming on a Wednesday this year, there are sure to be many out and about enjoying long weekends beginning both today and next week.
Last year the force entered the summer somewhat undermanned but earlier this year Rochester Police Chief Paul Toussaint announced they were again at full strength.
Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said there will be the usual patrols as well as special "Safe Commute" patrols that are grant funded and specifically target speeding, distracted and impaired drivers.
