Rochester's own Christmas tree replanted at Parson Main Square

ROCHESTER - Rochester's Christmas tree has been replanted in Parson Main Square.

The Department of Public Works transported and installed the tree on Wednesday.

The nearly 30-foot blue spruce was donated to the city by the Sbrizza family of Fortier Drive.

According to Lisa Clark, Public Works, Quintyn Gregg and Justin Cutter of Save a Tree (formally Urban Tree) did an excellent job assisting Joe Sanborn, George Steele, Scott Richey, and Paul Michaud of Public Works to make sure the tree was put perfectly into place and secured for the season.

"The Sbrizza's tree makes the perfect centerpiece for the downtown Christmas display," said Clark. "We want to thank the Savatree Company for generously donating their time and equipment to remove and transport the tree downtown."

This year's tree decorations have been made by Rochester Elementary School Students and the children of the YMCA Child Care Center. The students of the Monarch School of New England will continue the 20-year tradition of trimming the tree with Public Works.

A tree lighting ceremony, presented by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. The annual Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.
