DOVER - A Rochester woman was sentenced to a year in jail on Monday after she pleaded guilty to a slew of charges, including trafficking heroin and crack, DWI, being a habitual offender, fentanyl possession and seven bail violations between Dec. 17, and Feb. 24.
Following the sentencing, Candi Ouelette, 39, of South Main Street, was remanded back to Strafford County Jail, where she has 81 days of pretrial credit, which means she could be released as early as next Aug. 4.
The specific sentence listed in connection with the House of Corrections sentence was for violation of probation.
The felony charges in the case summary indicate she could've been sentenced to upward of 37 years on the various charges.
According to an affidavit obtained by The Rochester Voice, the charges arose during contact police made with her when she was found sleeping behind the wheel in the area of 87 North Main St. on Feb. 20, 2019.
When a police officer tapped on the window she awoke but appeared groggy, according to the affidavit prepared by Rochester Police Lt. Andrew Swanberry.
Eventually it was learned Ouellette was a certified habitual offender since April 2006.
During a search upon her arrest a large baggy and smaller baggies were found containing some 17 grams of heroin.
Ouellette is also bound to participate in any counseling, treatment and educational programs as directed by corrections officials.
