ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was arrested on receiving stolen property and theft by deception charges on Monday after she was interviewed by police regarding a neighbor dispute that had nothing to do with her.
Martha Kennedy, 49, of 26 River St., Apt #A, is suspected in an Aug. 2 incident in which a sibling of Kennedy's reported she was stealing her jewelry.
Police learned the jewelry had been sold to Trinket's and Treasures on Milton Road and allege that Kennedy had received the money for it.
An arrest warrant was drawn up on Aug. 23, but police never arrested Kennedy till Monday as they investigated the neighbor complaint.
Both charges are Class B misdemeanors. Kennedy will be arraigned on both charges in March.
The original complaint that drew police to the River Street apartment building was by a tenant who claimed someone was putting junk mail in her mailbox. That complaint was later determined unfounded, police said.
