ROCHESTER — The city announced a tax rate for this year of $26.36 on Wednesday, 2.65 percent higher than last year’s, which was $25.68.

The city’s portion of the tax rate is $8.85 per $1,000, while the local school portion of the rate is $12.19 per $1,000.

The city’s retirement contributions and health insurance premiums are considered the largest reasons for the increase in the city portion.

Meanwhile, the state education tax rate went down by 2.4 percent, while the county tax rate increased by 2.3 percent.

The increase means annual taxes on a Rochester home assessed at $200,000 will increase by about $1,360.
