Rochester Revenue Office back open weekdays with special senior hours

ROCHESTER - The city announced on Friday that Rochester's Revenue Building has reopened to the public following a prolonged closure due to COVID-19.

It reopened quietly earlier this week and will remain open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. going forward, though on a modified schedule. Doors will be locked at 4:45 p.m. daily.

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, the facility will only be open to seniors aged 60 and up, who are among the most at risk for serious illness due to COVID-19.

Additionally, the building will be closed from 1-2 p.m. daily for cleaning.

The building resumed in-person operations with a soft reopening on Wednesday.

Visitors are asked to wear a mask or cloth face covering and should be aware that employees will also be taking these precautions in order to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Visitors will also be asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines by remaining six feet apart from others while inside.

Visitors should note that there will be designated doors for entering and exiting the building, and that there is potential for longer wait times, as some service windows will be closed to facilitate social distancing. Depending on demand for in-person services, residents may be asked to wait outside the building.

Residents are reminded that they can conduct much of their business with the Revenue Department including paying utility and property tax bills online.

Details about the reopening of additional city offices will be made available as they are finalized. In the meantime, city staff are continuing to work remotely.
