ROCHESTER - The Rochester Recreation Department will be starting up adult swim classes at the Gonic Pool this summer.

The program is tailored specifically for individuals 18 and over who wish to acquire fundamental swimming skills and enjoy the water safely.

"After receiving several inquiries last year, we are happy to offer swim classes for adults this summer," said Nicole Lee of the Rec Department. "This is a class for adults with minimal skills who are looking to enjoy swimming independently and safely."

The adult swim classes will teach essential techniques, such as submerging, comfortable breathing, floating on the front and back, and basic swim strokes. Classes will be held in three consecutive two-week sessions throughout the summer, allowing swimmers to progress and refine their skills.

The cost of each two-week session is $60 for Rochester residents and $70 for nonresidents. Interested individuals can find more information at rec.rochesternh.gov

Registration can be completed online or in person at the Recreation Office, located in the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, 150 Wakefield Street, Entrance B. For general inquiries and additional information, call (603) 332-4120.
