ROCHESTER - Police today are on the lookout for a man who robbed the Rochester Walgreen's at gunpoint early Thursday.
Rochester Police responded to the South Main Street drug store around 3:20 a.m. where officers learned that the suspect had showed a firearm and demanded prescription drugs.
According to a statement from Rochester Police, the male handed the pharmacist a note claiming to have a firearm and showed a portion of the firearm during the incident.
"The male was able to get away prior to police arrival with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs," Rochester Police spokesman Jeremy Aucoin said.
The suspect, who left the store headed in the area of Winter Street, was described as a black male, six feet tall with average build, wearing a black face mask, a black puffy jacket with hood, black jean style pants, a black hat, dark colored shoes and work gloves.
Rochester Police deployed a K9 team for a search, but it was unsuccessful.
Police say it's possible the suspect left the area in a white SUV, but it's not clear if the vehicle was involved.
Rochester Police are asking anyone who may have information that could assist with the investigation to call the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128. Tipsters can also provide information and remain anonymous by calling the Rochester Crime Line at 603-335-6500. Cash rewards are offered for information that leads to an arrest.
