ROCHESTER - The Rochester Police Department will be holding its ninth annual Citizen's Police Academy starting in March of 2020.
Citizens who participate in this program will be exposed to the many facets of their police department through presentations by department employees, hands-on training, and ride-a-longs with police officers. Here's your chance to learn, and become exposed to what your police department "really does."
The Citizen's Academy class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. for 11 weeks starting on March 24 and ending on June 2. All participants must be 18 years of age or older at the commencement of the Academy, or 15 years of age or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The class is limited to 20 participants, and will be considered on a first come, first served basis, with preference being given to Rochester residents. Applications and Release of Information Authorization forms will be available at https://rochesterpd.org as well as at the Rochester Police Department. Applications can either be mailed, dropped off at the Rochester Police Department, or emailed to jason.thomas@rochesternh.net. Participants must pass a brief background check to include a criminal record check. The deadline for applications is March 10.
