DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted in the second-degree assault and criminal threatening of a woman in Rochester in August.
William Baxter, 54, of 105 Whitehouse Road, No. 13, is charged with the two felonies in connection with his alleged strangulation of the woman on Aug. 11.
The criminal threatening charge states that Baxter also swung a hatchet at the woman while saying, "I'll cut you."
Baxter faces three and a half to seven years apiece on both counts.
The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Oct. 15 and released on Tuesday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
