DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted on felony assault charges in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred in Rochester in September.

Richard Jennings, 49, of 126 Brock St., allegedly "engaged in the strangulation of another ... causing her to experience impeded breathing" on Sept. 2, according to court records.

Additional misdemeanor assault charges accuse Jennings of also grabbing the woman's shoulders and slamming her into a table twice, as well as grabbing her shoulders a third time and "slamming her into a cubby."

Jennings could spend up to 10 years behind bars if found guilty on all charges.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Jan. 16 and released last week.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
