Rochester man accused in fatal shooting pleads not guilty, remains held without bail

ALFRED, Maine - The Rochester man charged in the fatal shooting of a Berwick man last month pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday.

Daniel Lafrenier, 31, appeared via zoom from York County Jail where he is being held on no bail pending trial.

He is charged with murder in the Jan. 12 fatal shooting of Mark Forest, 37.

Berwick police responded to Katabel Lane around 8 a.m. where they found Forest with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., where he succumbed to his injuries.

Lafrenier, was taken into custody by York Police that afternoon after they responded to a York Road residence for a report of a break-in and found Lafrenier attempting to gain entry into the house.
