ROCHESTER - Rochester author J. L. Long has released his first science fiction novella, Silicon Kings.

Set in the not-so-distant future, the story explores the limits of technology, capitalism, masculinity, and other American ideals through the complex and ever-shifting relationship between a San Francisco tech tycoon and his personal assistant.

The official book launch and live reading by the author is scheduled for Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. The event will take place in the Rose Room at the Rochester Public Library, located at 65 S. Main Street in downtown Rochester. Open mic readings from other area authors will follow.

Julian (J. L.) Long lives in Rochester, with his spouse, three cats, and an impending sense of doom. He has the utmost admiration for Shirley Jackson and a fictional crush on Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. In Silicon Kings, Long blends his sharp wit and keen observations of human behavior to craft a narrative that is equal parts thought-provoking and entertaining.

The book is available as an ebook and paperback through Lulu Books and Amazon. For more information, visit www.JLLONGWRITES.com or contact J. L. Long at jllongwrites@gmail.com.
