PORTSMOUTH - Robert Henry Emmond, 80, died at Portsmouth regional Hospital, Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Known by colleagues, family, and friends as Bob, Bobbie, and Roberge! Robert was born Nov. 11, 1944, in Rochester to Gladys Gillis Elliott and Richard Emmond. Robert has an older brother, Richard Emmond, who resides in Virginia.
Robert enjoyed each career choice over his lifetime. This made way for many stories he would love to talk about. Most memorable were his City of Dover, Water Dept.
These years were a treasure trove of stories. With Great Humor his family would hear about "When I worked for the city of Dover" He took pride in his work and enjoyed learning new trades and earned Certifications in a variety of skills.
Bob spent the first years of his life being raised in St. Charles Home of Rochester.He spoke highly and with gratitude of St Charles Home and the nuns. He was grateful for what they taught him and how well he was taken care of by them. He was devoted to ensuring his last name- Emmond, was good and a sense of pride to his children.
Robert enjoyed giving back quietly, helping elderly folks in need when he was able to. He also enjoyed Sunday mornings, cooking home fries, and pancakes in his meticulously kept cast-iron pans. The family was serenaded by his singing while cooking, doing laundry and the many tasks he did with Joy while maintaining a tidy home.
Bob enjoyed his outdoor lawn and gardening. He looked forward to trips to the beach and eating NE favorites like lobster and clams. Lasting memories of laughter during country Sunday rides in the van with the Perrigo's and Emmonds. His most favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle, enjoying the freedom and adventures while embracing the NH LIVE FREE or die, with passion.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sherrie Emmonds. Robert had five children, Nikki Emmond, Cynthia Birch, Crissy Walton and her husband Scott, and Rob Emmond. Robert is also survived by his 12 grandchildren-Tyrell & Avaya-Jennifer-Amber&Alexis,-Dylan&Kaitlyn -Tyler, Jaryn, Wesley, Josie & Sophia.
Robert is predeceased by a stepdaughter, Cheryl Barrett, and his grandsons Derek and Bubba.
