Bob (Robert Bruce) Abbott, loving husband, father, and Bampa died in the comfort of his home on April 1st, 2021. Bob was born on March 22, 1951, in Rochester, the oldest son of Bruce and Martha Abbott. He grew up in North Berwick, Maine and graduated from Noble High School, class of 1970.
Bob was very proud of and passionate about the work he did to help get the North Berwick Rescue established for his community. He volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician and later became Rescue Chief. After taking a break to spend more time with his family, Bob joined the Shapleigh Rescue as an EMT volunteer and later became a firefighter, earning the rank of Captain. Altogether, he committed 30 years of his life to being an EMT and helping people. Bob enjoyed being the Emergency Management Director for the town of Shapleigh for 10 years.
Anyone who knew Bob knew he had a wonderful sense of humor, keeping his family and everyone else laughing. He always loved a good joke, both telling them and hearing them. Bob was full of life and was always looking for his next adventure, especially while crossing the country, living in Arizona, and visiting England. One of his other favorite pastimes was taking a ride to North Conway to see the White Mountains. He never liked to stay in one place.
Bob loved his family most of all - his wife of 38 years, Jean, his children: Bob Jr (Tina), Josh, Crystal, Jodi (Elliott Howell), Jacob (Bekka Bean), and Kate (Josh Arnaudin). He is especially missed by his five grandchildren, Karli, Chloe, Lidia, Hayden and Bailey who were all very much loved by him. He is also survived by his mother Martha, and his two brothers Barry (Cathy) Abbott, and Bernard (Mindy) Abbott as well as his nieces.
