ROCHESTER - Volunteer judges for Rochester Main Street spent the afternoon and early evening last Friday judging downtown business displays and window displays in an effort to determine the best displays.
Taking the top honors and receiving a blue ribbon along with a chance to display the roving trophy for the next year was RiverStones Custom Framing at 33 North Main Street Street. The judges loved the creativity of a "Plaid-i-pus" and the reminders to support local small businesses.
Walking away with second place honors and a red ribbon is Studley's Flower Gardens at 82 Wakefield Street with their "Shop Local" door decorations and plaid entry theme, while a close third place finish went to Union Street Antiques Group Shop at 19 Union Street, who will be displaying a yellow ribbon for their efforts including the lights and animation of the train set. This year's theme was "Shop Plaid/Shop Small".
In addition, there are other nice window displays and lights throughout downtown including Mel Flanagan's Irish Pub & Café, Tri-City Bicycles, Bernier Insurance, Bella Fresca and Jetpack Comics.
Shoppers are invited to enter the 'Win The Window" contest by visiting local businesses and getting your passport to downtown stamped. Entrants can be a winner of over $800 in prizes and gift certificates supplied by participating merchants. The window can be viewed at 56 North Main street and you can pick up your passport entry there or at any of the participating businesses. If you'd like to volunteer to help on projects such as this, then please contact the Rochester Main Street Office at 603-330-3208 or email director@rochestermainstreet.org.
