SOMERSWOROTH - Richard R Bernier, 83, of Somersworth, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb, 18.

Richard grew up in Rochester with his two brothers Gerard and Kenneth. He attended Holy Rosary High School followed by serving his country in the Air Force. He settled in Somersworth, working for the G.E Metering Company.

He was known for his razzing, fun personality and willingness to help anyone with anything they needed. He was active in the Somersworth community, serving on many boards and committees, including Service Credit Union, Somersworth International Children's Festival and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard was an active member of his church St. Ignatius of Loyola (St. Martin's), where he was always consulted, especially with decorating around the Christmas season. He spent many hours taking care of his yard and sewing with his wife Claire, of 41 years, who passed away in 2019.

He is survived by his son Mark and wife Jennifer, son Christopher and wife Elizabeth, children Michael and Michelle, brother Kenneth and wife Nancy, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
