Residential fire claims life of Litchfield resident

LITCHFIELD - One person died Tuesday in a fast-moving fire at a residence in Litchfield.

Firefighters responded around 8 a.m. to 7 Century Lane where they found a one and a half story structure fully involved.

Firefighters learned one resident was still inside and tried to enter the home, but were unable to do so due to the intense fire conditions. A victim was located inside the home once the fire was extinguished.

Positive identification of the victim and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy at the NH State Medical Examiner's Office in Concord later today.

The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the NH State Fire Marshal's Office and the Litchfield Fire and Police Departments.
