DOVER - Raymond Landry, 77, died Sept. 13, 2021, at his home in Franklinton, N.C. after a long battle with cancer.
Ray was born in Dover on February 26, 1944 and was the son of Adelard and Olive (Cormier) Landry. He went to Dover schools and entered the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Upon returning from the Navy, Ray became a tractor trailer driver, a profession he continued until cancer made it impossible to climb up to the cab in December 2020 at age 76.
Ray loved baseball and was known to have at least one eye or ear on a game most days of open season. In his younger years Ray was an avid bowler and was in various Dover 10-pin leagues well into his 50s. Ray lived in the Dover, Somersworth and Rochester area until he, his wife and step-daughter Aimee moved to North Carolina in 2003.
Ray leaves behind his daughter Christine (Landry) Fournier, son-in-law Paul and grandchild Bri of Somersworth, and stepdaughters Renee (Vaillancourt) Clarke of Rochester and Franklinton and Diane (Lavigne) Tharp of Rochester. He is also survived by his sister Yvonne Hale of Dover, brother Adrien and sister-in-law Joan of Dover, and sister-in-law Mary of Dover.
Ray was predeceased by his wife of 25 years Linda (Martin) Landry, stepdaughter Aimee Vaillancourt, brothers Robert, Roger and Lionel, sisters Gloria Allis and Claire Newsom, and his parents.
