ROCHESTER - After a brief hiatus, the former Porter's Pub reopened under new ownership and a new name. The popular sports bar and restaurant, located at 19 Hanson Street, officially resumed operations on Wenesday.

New owner Steve Gosselin also operates Clemento's Pizzeria & Brew at 160 Washington St. Gosselin says his team is excited to be a part of the ever-evolving downtown community.

"We cannot thank everyone enough for the overwhelming support we have received so far," Gosselin said. "We are so excited to start this new journey in downtown Rochester."

Now called simply Porters, the restaurant will operate from Tuesday to Saturday, with varying hours of operation.

"We look forward to welcoming the regulars back, as well as introducing ourselves to new customers," added Gosselin. "We want everyone to have a great time and enjoy everything we have to offer."

According to Rochester Economic Development Director Michael Scala, independent businesses like Porter's are the backbone of a vibrant and thriving downtown.

"A restaurant opening or reopening is not just a win for the business, but for the entire area," said Scala. "The new Porter's is a destination and will bring in more foot traffic and visitors to the surrounding shops and businesses, creating a domino effect of increased economic activity. We congratulate and welcome the new owners and wish them great success."
